ABOUT

LURRIE BELL

⭐ Born in 1958, the son of famed blues harmonica player Carey Bell, Lurrie Bell picked up his father’s guitar at the age of five and taught himself to play. Eddie Taylor, Big Walter Horton, Eddie C. Campbell, Eddy Clearwater, Lovie Lee, Sunnyland Slim, Jimmy Dawkins and many more were frequent visitors to his house. They all helped to shape and school him in the blues, but none as much as his father’s long-time employer Muddy Waters.

Living in Mississippi and Alabama, immersing himself in the passionate expressiveness of the gospel tradition at church, and later playing on stage with Willie Dixon all shaped Bell and made him a standout when he recorded tracks for Alligator Records’ Grammy-nominated Living Chicago Blues series.

Bell toured with Koko Taylor in the late ‘70s. He also received wider recognition as a solo artist when he signed with Delmark Records and released several critically acclaimed albums.

Lurrie Bell’s elegant and intense guitar playing and passionate vocals have made him a favorite at clubs and festivals around the world and have earned him a reputation as one of the “leading lights” in the future of the blues.

FRANK CATALANO

⭐ Legendary saxman Frank Catalano consistently headlines world-class festivals and sells-out venues throughout the USA, Europe, and Japan. Thanks to his signature sound and renowned reputation, Catalano averages 150 concerts a year with his jazz quartet.

While just a teenager, Catalano signed to Delmark Records and released a string of critically acclaimed recordings with jazz greats including Randy Brecker, Ira Sullivan, Willie Pickens, Paul Wertico, and his mentor Von Freeman. His co-led album with Freeman, “You Talking To Me” remains a cult classic.

Catalano is the only known saxophonist to perform with Miles Davis, Charles Earland, Elvin Jones, Junior Wells, Randy Brecker, Stan Getz, Betty Carter, Tito Puente, Tony Bennett, and Louie Bellson while still in high school. As a sideman, Frank has been heard by millions thanks to his collaborations with Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Maurice Joshua, Destiny’s Child, John Legend, Tony Bennett, Seal, and countless others.
